Dry fasting, where you eat nothing, while also drinking nothing, is a thing. I know, it sounds a bit insane, but it can work. I’m not recommending it here, however. It truly does function well, and if you are having intense inflammation related problems that need relief, you could give it a try for a day or two. It’s actually too quick acting for most situations though, and so far, we don’t know if it works that much faster for rebooting the immune system. Generally, one day of dry fasting seems to count as three days of water fasting. The problem is that your metabolic rate will also drop after one day, instead of three or four.

In the future, if it turns out that this is enough to reboot and refresh the immune system, it might be the preferred mechanism for many. It isn’t that hard to not drink water for a single day, once you get used to the idea. For now, I’m sticking with what is known to work for certain.

The technique:

For three days a week, possibly up to four if the mood strikes you, stop eating, drinking only water.

The rest of the week, eat normally. Don’t “diet” on the eating days.
